George Everest Park (जॉर्ज एवरेस्ट पार्क)
George Everest Park is situated at about 6 km from the main city of Mussoorie and is one of the top best tourist attractions in Mussoorie. It was built in the year 1832. It was named after Sir George Everest in which he used to do study related work. Along with the park there is also a house and also there is a laboratory in which Sir George used to work. He was appointed as the Surveyor General of India from the year 1830 to 1843.
The Archeological Survey of India is being given the control to take care of the George Everest Park. They have been given the control to keep the interior as well as the surroundings of the Park neat and clean such that more travelers come and visit the place. But ASI had neglected the maintenance of the park in the past but now they are taking preventive measures to make the park to the right condition.
Work done by Sir George Everest
He has done the work of Trigonometric Survey of India from south India and it extended north India and then to Nepal also. There were two persons who continued the work of Sir George Everest and then to give tribute to Sir George Everest they had named the peak on his name. The George Everest Park is situated at a place such that it gives a full view of the valley that is in surrounding of that park.
The Park is located at 6 km from the Library Bus Stand which is at the Mall Road of Mussoorie. It takes almost 20 minutes to travel from the bus stand to the park. The park is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It takes almost 2 hours to fully visit the George Everest Park. There is no entry fee to enter in to the park.
